I am probably not your stereotypical traditional yogi! I am a 40 something farmers wife – my husband and I along with our 3 primary school aged kids farm a sheep and beef property in Northern Southland. Yes, I eat red meat, enjoy coffee & drink red wine (all in moderation as part of a well-balanced diet!).
I have completed my Bachelor of Physical Education (BPhEd) at Otago University & throughout my adult life I have dabbled with yoga to compliment my various multi-sport adventures . Frustrated by the lack of yoga classes offered in Southland & inspired by a friend who teaches yoga to rural communities in West Otago I decided to train as a yoga teacher through Power Living in 2015 travelling to Bali. What I soon learnt is that yoga isn’t all about stretching!
Yoga training and now teaching yoga has been transformational for me, it has provided an opportunity for personal growth beyond my wildest dreams. My mind and body are more connected than ever and I feel more present, aware, grounded and calm. Of course I need to practice this daily on and off the mat – but I now have the tools to do this and I look forward to sharing this with you.
I love teaching in our local community and believe that yoga is for everyone – from the nature-loving kale-eating vegans to the local cow cocky down the road……… so please come and join me on the mat soon!
